My primary browser. Gets the job done and generally doesn't get in the way.

Firefox

Used as secondary browser and for twitter.

Notepad++

For quick editing of text files, etc.. When a full IDE is too much. I doubt I scratch the surface of the NP++ feature set.

Microsoft Office 365

I mostly hate Outlook but can't be bothered finding an alternative. Excel is king and Word is okay, although I need training. I don't do Powerpoint.

Outlook stores the cached data files in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\. If you're wondering where a chunk of disk space has gone, it might be here. It's hard to change this location without setting up your email accounts from scratch.

Dashlane

Syncs across all my devices and I can even share passwords with my wife who also uses it. Auto-fill is a bit hit and miss for me.

Spotify

The various clients are pretty good. Their catalogue seems the best. I hate that they don't do lossless, but I tried Tidal and Amazon Music HD and couldn't get on with either of them.

Visual Studio Professional 2019

This software is starting to feel like iTunes. It will eventually collapse under it's own weight. But for profesisonal C# development, let's be realistic, you have no alternative.

Visual Studio Code

Starting to get into this for Python and static website development. It feels like a relief after VS2019.

Linqpad 5 & 6

Nice quick C# scripting environment. And now that 6 let's you include scripts, this has more potential. I see it as an alternative to MS batch files and Powershell.Link to product.

Misc

• 3CXPhone: looks like crapola but it's free.
• Winbox: connect to Mikrotik kit with IP addresses.
• Microsoft SQL Server: need it for work stuff.
• Whatsapp: annoying software but it's better than the alternatives.
• Microsoft Team: garbage but needed for work.
• S3Browser: quite decent for looking at your S3 data.
• AnyDVD: good at ripping DVDs and BluRays to disk.
• MakeMKV: convert ISOs to MKVs while selecting the audio streams, etc.
• VNCViewer: good for wife PC support.
• Sniffviewer: this is an app that lets you see your Mikrotik traffic in real time.
• Windirstat: lets you see where all your disk space has gone.
• Catalyst Control Centre (AMD): this fixes the annoying problem where switchng off monitors causes Windows to rearrange the desktop.
• Microsoft Money: old school account management. Amazed this still works in Windows.
• Putty: ssh connection manager. Stores its data in the registry. Run this to export it.

• Artpip: changes your wallpaper regularly. I paid for the premium version as it used to grab proper artwork (e.g. from the NPG) then the author changed it to only do modern stuff. Quite disappointing now.
• Dropbox: another online data drive.
• Keepass: another password manager.
• Onenote: used to be god but Microsoft doing their best to ruin it.
• Skype: still need to communicate by video with randoms and most people have this.
• Adobe Creative Cloud: pretend to be creative.
• FVD Speed dial (Chrome addin): shows a nice preview of frequent web pages.
• Balsamiq: create mockups of stuff.
• Filezilla: decent FTP client.
• Synology Cloud Station Backup.
• Python.
• Chocolatey: command line installation of much windows software. Don't use it for MySQL though or you enter a world of pain.
